Question: What else do I need on my tackle box?
I'm trying to stock up on bass,pike ,and panfish lures ......I have spinners in line and the other one I have crankbaits jigs tubes buzz baits and soft plastics.... I fish with a 7 ft ugly stick with 12 lb mono ... I also have spare line and pliers . Polarized glasses are a must so I got them ...so what else do I need
Answer: To start off plenty of hooks and weights of different sizes are important to have due to changing conditions and what not. You seem to have a broad enough selection to catch fish in most conditions. But with that said, do you have different sizes? Colors? Styles? Sizes, color, and variations of different baits are very important to have at all times. For example, a red 1/4 ounce crankbait may work this morning but by noon it may not get a single hit. Maybe fish moved to deeper water and need something a bit bigger and a little lighter in color. There's all kinds of scenarios to factor in. So again, having different colors, sizes, variations, and deep/shallow diving baits is a must. This applys to any bait be it plastics, spinnerbaits, jigs, etc. I would take each bait that you listed and go out and get the variations of them the best you can. Other than that:
rain gear is always nice to have handy. It's no fun getting stuck in a t shirt and jeans when a down pour happens to come.
Scents are always good to have. If fish are tedning to be picky your scents can make a nice difference.
Trailers for your jigs. Always fish a jig with some type of trailer. I like chunk trailers best.
More top waters wouldn't hurt. Poppers, Jitterbugs, and Rogues are all great choices.
Small jigheads for your Panfish setups. If you like Crappie fishing small floaters and Crappie jigs are a must.

Question: What lures are ideal to use when the water is really choppy from the wind.?
I've tried everything in my tackle box: cranks, spinners, buzz baits, poppers, and top waters. The only thing that seemed to work to the slightest amount was a swim bait. Any advice?
Answer: Here's my advice on fishing in the heavy wind. Since you have tried most everything and had limited success, I doubt that any other lure suggestion will help that much. So that tells me your location is the problem I always pick a bank or inlet the wind is blowing the waves into, because the bait fish are being blown into it also. Bass in turn will feed on the bait fish in this situation.From March to the 1'st of June the wind blew daily in my area without hardly missing a day.Usually 20-25 mph. My best catches were always in the areas I described.I can only assume the bass were feeding on the bait fish that was forced against the bank and into the coves.Try it and see if your luck doesn't change.They bit almost every lure I threw at them- spinner bait, rattle trap, bandit crank bait, and Texas rigged Zoom Baby Brush Hog with a sliding 1/4 ounce sinker.I like to use the heavier sinker when the wind is really kicking up Good luck!

Question: Bait/tackle shop?
Alright, Im a 16 yr old from michigan i want to start tying flies for fly fishing and possibly making my own bait/lures. For the most part i just want to start a small tackle shop from my home like in my shed or garage.. i was wondering if anyone has any ideas on what i need for this project and if theres anything specific i need to have in the shop any answers are appreciated
Answer: Yes it can be done. I have been working from a small shop at my home for several years building custom fishing rods for individual customers and 2-3 local tackle stores in my area. I have been able to do this both full and part time. I would make sure that there are no problems with local city codes about this. Make samples and let people know about what you are doing, you will be amazed at the interest people will show. Make up some business cards, this can be done on your computer very cheaply. I will be showing my work at craft fairs and a local farmers market on Sundays and am offering classes on Rod Building and repair. Good luck, feel free to contact me if anymore questions.

Question: New Fishing Tackle Box?
my old tackle box had 4 containers, and i bought a new soft side tackle box which can hold 5. with all my gear in the original 4, what or some ideas i can use the 5th for?
ex. dedicate each container to a specific type of lures
the setup i have now it
1. weights/hooks etc.
2. soft plastics (worms, leeches etc.)
3. hard baits (minnow baits, rapalas, top water, poppers etc.)
4. spinners
5. ???i keep tools in the outside pockets such as pliers
what can i put in this 5th container?
Answer: You can use it for a quick go to container. Put a little bit of everything in it, especially some of your fave lures. When you need something quick you know exactly where to go instead of digging through 4 other containers. As your tackle grows, you can downsize the 5th box to accommodate. You can do that or use it for specialty items like an assortment of beads, swivels, leaders, replacement hooks, rings, sprays and such.~good luck catchin'.

Question: I'm new to lure fishing, what are some good lures?
I'm new to fishing and only have a little under a dozen fishing lures. I have a couple spinners, a few top water lures, and some small/medium crankbait lurers.
Have any lure suggestions? Looking for some that are good for catching bass, bluegill, sunfish, and perch.
Answer: I will do my best with this one. If you are pond fishing I only take these lures when fishing ponds.
1. H&H single spinner spinner bait in black and gold and white and black. (just remember to put the hooks on before use)
2. Heddon tiny torpedo in clear or frog colored.
3. Rapala broken tailed minnow in Black top tan bottom or black top silver bottom
4. Smithwick Devils horse again I like a frog colored in this lure.
5. Bass Assasin bag of worms black with pink tail. Plus #3 hooks and 1/4 ounce sinkers.That is basically all I take with me when I am fishing stock ponds. as far as lures go. I do have success with perch but nothing beats live bait for those guys and a plain old bobber.
Now if you are planning on lake fishing the tactics and lures are endless on what could be best for your area. Except the live bait recommendation for perch your area could be drastically different. I would go to my local tackle store or your neighborhood Wal-mart and simply ask the sporting goods person what people are buying. Tackle Stores are alot better then Wal-mart due to the fact that chances are they guy working the counter at the bait shop shares your passion to fish and will fish in your local area so he/she should be more kknowledgeable However I have met some true fisherman who work the sporting good section at Wal-mart who are very kknowledgeable

none of this talk like 'depending on condition', i know all that. i want to know the lure you have more faith in.
Mine would be Strike King 'Sexy Shad'.Answer: At this moment the lure that I have the most confidence in is a senko type lure fished either weightless or with a 1\8 ounce sliding weight. This set up will work all year long, and can be used in the grass (weightless) or fished off the drop offs and points (weighted) This is the ultimate lure for the waters I am fishing in, and have no doubt it would be very successful in your waters also.

For example I will talk here on the subject of the language of Urdu. The langauage of Urdu is a 2nd speaking language of the world. Question: Does my Baitcast reel need to be disassembled and oiled?
yesterday my grandpa gave me a baitcasting reel that he had gotten around 11 years ago, and never used. it has never been oiled or taken apart and when put a bit of line on it (about 1/3rd of the spool filled) and tried to cast it, it wouldn't cast. i tried to tighten and loosen the mechanical brake, and the star drag, but this didn't seem to help at all. the reel is an Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5600AB Anti-Backlash. (also this is my first baitcaster reel.)
Answer: Sounds like the grease and oil in your reel dried and gummed up. Clean off old grease and oil and reapply oil and grease should solve your problem. If you don't know how to clean your reel properly, many shops will do it for you for a small fee. Current going rate to get your reel serviced is between $10 to $12.

Question: Can i go fishing and use live lizards as bait?
I live in florida and i have no worms, i know i can use hot dogs as bait for bass and other fish, but there are a ton of lizards right outside my door.
Can i use lizards as bait on my hook?Answer: Hook the lizard through the lip and fly line it. No sinker.
When you're casting it, gently toss it out, don't cast so hard. That's how a lot of them get off.

Question: what size hook,bait and weight do i use to catch stripers or crappies?
i'm new at fishing and i have not much knowledge of what i'm doing.I've been trying to catch some crappies and stripers at the lake.I really need to know when do i use a float and when not to.And i also need to know what size weights and what size hooks to use when casting for these types of fish?What advice or trick can you help me with in these situations?I appreciate all the advice you'll can give me.
Answer: Crappie is #6 long shank with 4/6 pound line. Strippers can weigh up to 60#, you need 3/0 to 7/0 hooks & 20# up line. I landed a 5# stripper on a crappie rig once but it was very hard.

Question: What is the best bait or lure for largemouth bass?
there is a resivior by my house and the fishing there sucks. i know that nightcrawlers work so dont say that. i need to know what to use. jerkbaits,crankbaits,spinnerbaits,sinkos,jigs,soft plastic worms? what do i use?
Answer: It depends on situation. Different lures work best in different situations. No one lure is the best. If there was, wouldn't everybody know it? In the fall I suggest fishing during the midday with shallow lures looking for the bass feeding up for winter. Shallow cranks, lipless cranks, a little bit larger swim baits and maybe a texas or carolina rig on the bottom.

3 Baits To Lure Bass Fish - How To Catch The Big Bass
