Question: Are baitcasting reels hard to use?
I was thinking about buying one to try it out, I would rather just buy another spinning reel if they are too hard to use.
I'm a pretty experienced fishermen, I've just never tried this type of reel before.Answer: Notice most of the pros use baitcast reels. Once you master casting, and that's the hardest part of learning, you will never go back to spin cast. I disassemble my baitcast reels and clean them every year after the season closes. Some are over 10 years old now. The Ambassadeur 5000 through 10000 series are great because they are easy to tear down and parts are available for repairs.

Question: what type of baitcasting reel should i get for my ugly stick rod?
my ugly stick is a 7 footer, medium to heavy action rod.
im gonna be doing some bass, pike and catfishing what should i getAnswer: Well first off do you know how to use one or is this a first time bait casting reel ?
IF it is your first get something on the cheap side 30 to 40 bucks in case you do not like it. They can be trick to learn to cast with do to having to set the magnetic drag for different bait weights. To light and you can get bad back lash also known as the birds nest a big pain to untangle. To heavy and you get no distance on your casts.
Now if you know how to use one I personally like the Quantum series they have a large variety at all different prices. For the fish you mentioned going for I would want my reel to hold at least 150 yards of 10 pound line. I believe in having more line then you will need you never know how many snags you will get at the loss of so many yards of line.

Question: Which Hand For A Baitcaster?
On my spinning rod setup I cast with my right hand and reel with my left with no switching of the rod between hands. I'm looking into getting a baitcaster but noticed a majority of the reels have the handle on the right side. So is it the norm for a Right Handed person to cast with his right then switch hands to reel? or should I be looking at a baitcaster with the reel on the left side?
Answer: I learned baitcasting during a time before they made left-handed models.
And, YES, it is the norm to cast with your right hand and then switch hands to reel, (if you are a right handed caster).
I tried a left handed reel once but because I'm so acclimated to using my right hand to reel it feels "un-natural" to me.
Today, if your just beginning to learn baitcasting and want to try a left-handed reel it is strictly a "preference" call.

Question: How do I cast a spinning reel?
Only experience with spincast reels up to this point..Bought a baitcaster and a spinning reel this weekend...will start with the spinning reel becasue I understand the baitcaster will take more practice
Answer: This link may help ya', it's a good overall site and gives fundamentals plus more on fishin'. Yep, a level-wind (baitcaster) takes a little time, but once ya' got it you'll see the advantages over spin-cast and spinnin' reels, keep in mind though each type reel, has it's own place in fishing. Question: What is "Team Daiwa"?
The Daiwa website doesn't say anything about Team Daiwa except to list who is currently on it. But, more to the point, how are the TD rods and reels different than the regular Daiwa stuff? I also see that there are different series of Team Daiwa gear, e.g., TD-A, TD-S, etc., what's the difference?
My guess is that Team Daiwa is actually a group of professional tournament fishermen that Daiwa sponsors. Daiwa incorporates their input on certains rods and reels which then carry the TD name. I'm also guessing that there have been several different "teams", with each one getting a unique letter (TD-A, TD-B, etc.). The current team is Mike Iaconelli, Ish Monroe, Mike Folkstadt, Takahiro Omori, and Dustin Wilkes (from the Daiwa website).
Answer: Well....the "Team Daiwa is the higher end line doesn't hold up." All you have to do is look at Daiwa's HIGHEST reels, and realize that they DO NOT have the Team Daiwa label. The Steez and Certate spinning reels are a prime example. Neither, although retailing for well over $300, has Team Daiwa in the name...anywhere.
It's just a marketing tool. It seems like it's the "higher" end products, but truely, it's not. It seems they tend not to put it on rods/reels that are too far down the product list; however, all you have to do to dent that theory is go into a local Sports Authority and look at the cheap-o Team Daiwa rod/reel combo for $34.99.
There is the Daiwa sponsored anglers. And in a sense, they are "Team Daiwa," but that has nothing to do with the rod/reel line up.
So, to answer your question, it's just words they use to make things SOUND cooler. Nothing more.

Answer: l use a couple team daiwa TDX reels which are basically the same reel with a couple extra bearings. l am quite satisfied with them. the "advantage" should be excellent. probably about the same comparison as between a shimano curado and a citica.

Answer: I order a lot of fishing and hunting from Bass Pro. Fast delivery and never had a problem with them. That combo is fine for most people. If you fish a lot of tournaments where equipment failure could cost you a lot of money if you lost a big fish, I'd opt for a more durable reel but for the recreational fisherman it works great. More expensive reels usually have more ball bearings to make them smoother and last longer but you have to look at the use it's going to get.

Answer: For general freshwater fishing (in the US), I believe the SHAKESPEARE UGLY STIK + BERKLEY LIGHTNING spinning rods are supposed to be pretty good, with ABU GARCIA not bad either.... you get a FREE BAG with the Shakespeare.

Question: what is centriflex backlash control?
how does this feature differ from mag-force. and also how does one set the castcontrol in the daiwa luna TD 300. i would also like to know is there any lever one presses before casting because i cannot see any lever like in the old casting reels
Answer: Centriflex uses mechanical brakes to control backlash. Magforce uses magnetic dampening to control backlash. Adjustment for Centriflex equipped reels is found inside the reel, on the end of the spool. To adjust, grasp the spool and rotate the blue colored Centriflex ring clockwise for greater braking action, or counter-clockwise to decrease braking action. As with Magforce, it is recommended you start at a maximum setting until you get the feel of he reel, gradually decreasing the setting until you reach a point that best suits your skill level.

Question: I mixed up by so many Fishing Reels.Help!?
I heared so many fishing reels like spincast reel,spinning reel,surfcasting reel,jigging reel,big game reel/trolling reel,fly reel,baitcaster reel.What are the difference?I really wanna know the difference of the Jigging Reel and the Trolling Reel,baitcaster reel and the trolling reel.Does surfcasting reel the same with the spinning reel?I think the same reel with different fishing lures for different types of fishing,it will have different names,am I right?
Could someone list me all the lures,different lures for different fishing types?Answer: These are your basic fishing reels:
Spinning reels or some times called open faced reels - a good all around reel. The correct size will handle most fish.
Spin cast reels or some times called closed faced reels - usually not as well built as spinning reels. A good choice for lite duty fishing like panfish. Most kids learn to cast with these reels because of ease of use.
Bait cast reels - designed to cast 3/8 oz. lures or heavier. A little harder to use but once mastered you can cast further and more accurate. A favorite of Pro bass fisherman.
Trolling reels - any reel can be used for trolling , often refered to as a level wind reel {similar to a bait cast reel} these reels can have a line counter on them which counts the amount of feet you have out.
Surf reels - can be either spinning or casting reels, the size to match the species you are fishing for.
Fly reels - a special reel to hold your fly line, different sizes or weight # to match you fly rods, these reels are made with and with out a drag.
There are two many lures to list, if you have a species you want to catch I can recommend some of my favorites.

Answer: Im not a flyfisherman but I do fish inshore for Reds and trout. they can both be found in anywhere from 6in to 8 ft of water. you may also catch some jack crevalle or spanish macs. It depends on where you are located. snook, tarpon, black drum, and bonefish are also possabilities.
